PROGRAMME OF FESTIVAL 2010

MUSICAL EVENINGS OF PIRAN (1978-2010)
International Chamber Music Festival
From 9th July until 6th August 2010

Concerts under the stars – for already 32 years now
Cloister of St. Francis Minor Friars Monastery of Piran

This year's cycle of exclusive Piran audio postcards represents a summer gift to an ultimate chamber music amateur in a time when it seems that artistic creativity, values and tradition are dwindling in the taste of contemporary tides.

With this year’s festival we boldly introduce conceptual novelties, such as »Young Virtuosos of Piran« concert together with the accompanying programme: musical workshop and photographic exhibition.

The programme guideline of this season is to introduce to the public the performing energy of pearls from the treasury of Slovenian and global creativity in an extremely accessible, easygoing and sensual manner, in performance of top, most recognized and valued musical artists of the moment.

With a project interface of renowned Slovenian and foreign musicians we gradually develop the ideas of multicultural dialogue and of connecting the European and Slovenian classical musical tradition on the highest performance level which it is funded on.

The musical programme will take its course also under the sign of anniversary jubilees of the guest ensembles and two important composers from a romantic period: Robert Schumann and Frédéric François Chopin (200th birth anniversary).

Emphasis and interconnection of motifs of the festival is also on: exclusivity, continuity, tradition, prestige, responsibility and harmony.

Be among the stars of the classical music. Musical virtuosos of the world will be in Piran for You!
